Infinity RGBW – Colour Your Mood

White is lovely, but not consistently enough. Sometimes we need to bring more colours. To motivate, to change the atmosphere, to create certain feelings. In those moments, light needs to go beyond functionality and speak through colour. That’s when we look for a solution called RGBW.

What does RGBW mean?

RGBW stands for Red, Green, Blue, and White. In RGB systems, colours are created by mixing three primary channels — red, green, and blue. This produces a wide range of hues, but when designers need pure white light, RGB alone cannot provide it with sufficient accuracy or stability. That’s where the “W” comes in.

By adding a dedicated white LED, RGBW systems can deliver both coloured light and precise, high-quality white light from the same source. This allows the luminaire to handle daily lighting tasks and dynamic colour scenes without compromising either performance or visual comfort.

Why Infinity RGBW

At Light4U, we wanted to take this concept further — combining accuracy, control, and reliability in one platform. That’s why we implement the Infinity RGBW module, a next-generation LED engine based on Lumitech PI-LED technology. It merges the flexibility of RGBW with precise colour calibration and long-term spectral stability.

Each Infinity RGBW module integrates four independent LED channels — red, green, blue, and white — calibrated and controlled individually. This makes it possible to create any colour within the CIE 1931 spectrum while maintaining a stable and natural white tone when required.

The Infinity RGBW module can reproduce any colour point inside this triangle — from 1,800 K warm white to 16,000 K cool daylight and all red, green, and blue tones in between. The corner “Red” refers to phosphor-converted red LEDs, defining one edge of the system’s representable spectrum. With Zigbee, you can set up exact coordinates, and Casambi allows you to choose the colour with the application without the precise definition of the coordinates.

Technical overview

The Infinity RGBW module offers:

  • Full RGBW colour control across the CIE-xy spectrum
  • CRI > 90 and MacAdam 1-step precision
  • Dimming range 1–100 %, completely flicker-free
  • Temperature compensation for chromatic stability
  • Compatibility with DALI DT8, Casambi, and Zigbee

These specifications ensure smooth transitions, perfect colour mixing, and repeatable performance in every installation.

Applications and possibilities

Infinity RGBW is ideal wherever light defines identity or atmosphere. It turns static illumination into a living design element — subtle or expressive, always precise.

  • Hospitality – create warm evenings, lively mornings, or signature brand tones
  • Retail – adjust colour scenes to highlight products and seasonal collections
  • Museums and galleries – control tone and mood for different exhibitions
  • Public spaces – adapt ambience for events, time of day, or visual impact

Light4U luminaires with Infinity RGBW

The Infinity RGBW module can be implemented across several Light4U luminaire families, ensuring a consistent visual language throughout a project:

  • Thor – 3-phase track spotlight for galleries and retail
  • Sana S / M / L – adjustable recessed luminaires
  • Baldr S / L – compact downlights for hospitality and retail
  • Cimbri – fixed recessed downlight with high uniformity
  • World – recessed downlight family in multiple sizes
  • Skadi – surface, suspended and track cylindrical downlights

This allows designers to apply the same colour control concept across different lighting layers — from accent to general illumination.

Performance and reliability

Advanced thermal design and electronic calibration guarantee colour precision and reliability over time. The combination of Austrian innovation from Lumitech and Dutch engineering from Light4U ensures dependable, high-quality performance in every application.

Lighting that speaks colour

Infinity RGBW adds a new dimension to light — emotion. It lets designers and architects work with colour as part of the architectural palette, bringing spaces to life with balance, control, and character. Look at an example of the gym in Ireland with our Infinity module:
