Back with a bang: Mark returns to Light4U as Technical Manager.

Blog Lightbuilder Mark ENG

In 2020, he joined Light4U as one of our youngest Lightbuilders—fresh out of university, full of energy, and eager to learn. Now, three years later, Mark returns to the familiar grounds of Light4U, equipped with a Master’s Degree in International Business and Management, and a clear mission: to take our technical excellence to the next level. As our new Technical Manager, he’s ready to help shape the future of Light4U.

Diving into the deep end.

Mark’s journey with Light4U began 3.5 years ago when he joined our supply chain team straight after his studies. “I had completed my internship at Light4U, so I knew a little about the company. But starting full-time was a completely different experience,” Mark reflects. “There’s so much more to lighting than simply screwing in a bulb at home—especially when you see the detail and precision that goes into professional lighting.”

His first few months were a steep learning curve, but they also laid the foundation for his professional approach today: “You have to be sharp. Details matter. That’s something I learned early on, and it’s still crucial in my work today.”

A strategic move.

After two years of working at Light4U, Mark felt it was time to broaden his horizon. He chose to pursue a Master’s degree in International Business and Management. “I was curious to see what a Master’s programme could offer me. Working would always be an option later on, but studying was an opportunity I didn’t want to miss.”

The experience not only expanded his knowledge, but also sharpened his strategic thinking—skills he now brings back to Light4U with a renewed sense of purpose.

A familiar face returns.

Returning to Light4U felt like a natural step for Mark. “The role of Technical Manager immediately appealed to me, and I knew I wanted to work with people like Tarek and Zuzana again. Light4U feels like home,” he says.

Besides the familiar faces, the technical focus and the unique culture at Light4U sealed the deal. “There are very few companies in the Netherlands that specialise in professional lighting the way we do. It’s a privilege to be part of that.”

Building the future, one innovation at a time.

As Technical Manager, Mark oversees both purchasing and R&D. “It’s about introducing new products, ensuring that everything is ready—from technical documentation to measurements—before we bring anything to market,” he explains.

One of his first priorities is to streamline and update all technical product data. “Accurate, up-to-date information is key. It helps us maintain our technical leadership and supports our customers even better.”

Mark’s technical expertise, combined with his strategic insight, positions him perfectly to help Light4U innovate and grow.

Aiming high.

Mark doesn’t shy away from setting ambitious goals. “My ambition is to be responsible for the whole technical department — making sure we grow in the right way, both technically and as a team.”

His approach remains refreshingly down-to-earth: “Stay close to the team, support wherever needed, and always keep moving forward.”

Lightbuilder at heart.

What does being a Lightbuilder mean to Mark in this new chapter? “It’s about being part of a strong team, working together to innovate and deliver the best lighting solutions,” he says.

Looking ahead, Mark hopes that in three years’ time, the R&D and Purchasing departments will be fully structured, streamlined, and ready for even bigger challenges.

Welcome back Mark!
