Project: Slijterij-Wijnhandel W. van Schaik

Realised by: Groenendijk Licht

Boudewijn Boer

Our customer, Groenendijk Licht, created a new lighting plan for Liquor store Slijterij-Wijnhandel W. van Schaik. They faced the challenge of illuminating a recently doubled-in-size store while maintaining its intimate, fine-dining ambience. Discover why the Huginn R was their go-to luminaire.

For this elegant liquor store, Groenendijk Licht selected the Huginn R. with a 1550-lumen output and a warm 3000K colour temperature. This choice enhances the shop’s inviting atmosphere and aligns beautifully with the rich tones of the products. The warm white light brings out the natural colours of golden wines while adding visual depth to darker reds. The result is a space that feels both luxurious and welcoming, encouraging customers to take their time and explore.

To optimise both functionality and mood, the lighting plan used two beam angles: a wide 60° for general ambience and a focused 36° for targeted accents. This combination ensures that each section of the store receives just the right amount of light. Shelves, bottles, and wall finishes are all lit with care, creating contrast and character throughout the space. Moreover, the fixtures operate efficiently, blending energy savings with thoughtful design. This project is a strong example of how great retail lighting combines performance with emotion.

Huginn R.

The Huginn R. is available in a range of colour temperatures, including dim-to-warm options from 3000K to 1800K. Its spectral LED technology ensures high CRI and accurate colour rendering, which is essential in a setting where colour and detail matter. Whether lighting deep wooden shelves or reflective glass bottles, the Huginn R. delivers consistent results with flexibility and control. A variety of beam angles and accessories allows full tailoring to fit any retail concept.

Result.

The final effect is warm, refined, and atmospheric. Light flows gently through the shop, drawing attention to product displays and guiding visitors naturally through the space. Each bottle is presented with clarity and care, while the surrounding environment feels intimate and engaging. This layered lighting strategy not only elevates the visual appeal but also supports a comfortable and relaxed customer experience.

Thank you, Groenendijk Licht. Like a well-composed wine, this lighting concept balances richness, precision, and emotion. Through smart choices and strong collaboration, the result is a retail space where light enhances every detail.
